New Director Kevin Boushel

The Culwick Choral Society is delighted to announce the appointment of Kevin Boushel as our new Director when we resume on Thursday 4th September.

Kevin is a conductor, singer and researcher of choral music, specialising in contemporary Irish and American music. He is the founding director of the Dublin City University Chamber Choir, where is currently completing his PhD as a Government of Ireland Scholar. From 2022–24 he served as Associate Conductor of the UCD School of Music.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree at Maynooth University, he completed the diploma course in Advanced Choral Conducting at the Kodály Institute in Hungary and graduated with an MA in Choral Studies from DCU.

His research on choral music has been published in the Choral Journal, Dirigo, RTÉ Brainstorm and Spéis Bulletin. He has participated in conducting masterclasses with renowned international artists, including Eimear Noone, Eric Whitacre and Zoltán Pad.

He was awarded the Most Promising Conductor Award at the Derry International Choir Festival, and was a finalist in the inaugural Choral Conducting Competition at the 2024 Feis Ceoil.

As a singer, Kevin has toured internationally with the Palestrina Choir, the New Liszt Academy Choir, and Fir an Chladaigh. He previously served as a member of the Executive Committee of Conradh na Gaeilge and presented a weekly music programme on Dublin’s Raidió na Life 106.4FM. https://www.facebook.com/TheBoushel
